BUNKERS AT LJUBELJ PASS
BUNKERJI NA LJUBELJU

These two bunkers were built by the Kingdom of Yugoslavia before the second world war as part of the so-called Rupnik Line. The one above s guarding the road descending from Ljubelj pass while another( below) is covering the entire road from the slope of the nearby Begunscica. From the second one the remains of German WW2 forced labour camp, a branch of Mathausen concentration camp can be seen. Prisoners were used todig atunnel under the Ljubelj (Loibl) Pass.

Ta dva bunkerja je zgradila kraljevina Jugoslavija kot del tako imanovane Rupnikove linije med pripravami na drugo svetovno vojno. Prvi (zgoraj) je branil prehod po cesti navzdol s prelaza, drugi (spodaj) pa je s pobocja begunjscice pokrival celoten prelaz. Z drugega je tudi pogled na taborisce, ki je bilo podruznica koncentracijskega taborisca Mathausen in katerega zaporniki so kopali predor pod prelazom Ljubelj.

<
