THE AIM
This site is a part of the SiteO network. SITE O is an international research/discussion group of people from around the world. All the members have an interest in fortifications and/or artillery. The membership includes authors, members of the military, museum curators and professors who are involved in research on these topics. Many others have a strong interest in this topics ranging from ancient history to the modern era. Our group includes students, teachers, medical doctors, business men, military personnel and people involved in many non-related professions. We have representation in North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia.
The purpose of the site is to aid those in doing research and to allow a free exchange of information. Some members receive the help of others in doing research for projects, while others simply use the group to help increase their own knowledge. To learn more about it please click here.

The aim of this regional site is to facilitate the communication about the activities related to the subject of fortification in this particular area. For the time being this is a rather large area from Swiss to Greece and there are many language spoken on this territory: Italian, Friulan, German, Slovenian, Croatian, Bosnian, Serbian, Albanian, Slavic Macedonian, Hungarian and Greek. It would be extremely hard to accomodate all these languages and so for the time being the site is conducted mainly in English language. You are welcome to contact us in your own language but please consider that this may slow down the communication with other labguage speakers.
Occasionally Slovenian language may be given as an alternative. The reason for this is simple. It is my language and my knowledge of other neighbouring languages unfortunately doesn't match these two, while the fact that this site is done on a volunteer basis forbids us hiring translators for other relevant languages. Still, an information in two languages may reach larger number of people than in one alone.
Thank you for understanding.
