The year 2007 brought an unparalleled breaking point for the acivity of the IR17 Re-enactment Group. It experienced what no other WWI re-enactment group ever could - a meeting with the real nameholder of the actual unit that the group represents. And not just any nameholder but the crownprince of Austria-Hungary, Otto von Habsburg. Thus the group established a living link with the history iwhose memory it strives to preserves.

Leto 2007 je bilo za ponazoritveno skupino IR17 izjemna prelomnica. Zgodilo se ji je, kar se ne more nobeni drugi ponazoritveni skupini prve svetovne vojne - srecala se je z dejanskim imejiteljem pravega 17. pespolka. In ta ni kdorkoli, ampak avstro-ogrski prestolonaslednik Oton Habsburski. Na ta nacin je skupina vzpostavila zivo vez z zgodovino, ki jo ponazarja.

The first major event of the year 2008 were "Spring manoeuvres" and the NCO exam in March, the largest so far. They took place in Logatec and were joined by colleagues from Prague, Vienna and Triest.

At the commemoration by the monument to the Czech soldiers fallen in WWI in Cercany on May 8th the IR17 the unit fired the salute for the very first time. The successful debut was applauded by onlookers and commended by the Lord Mayor of the city.

8. maja je na priloznostni slovesnosti ob spomeniku ceskim vojakom padlim v prvi svetovni vojni v Cercanyju spominska enota IR17 prvic izstrelila castno salvo. Za uspesno izvedbo pozdrava so bili clani skupine nagrajeni z aplavzom in pohvalo zupana mesta Cercany.

September saw the unit yet again participating at the "Trail Along the Old Border" (Pohod ob stari meji) organised by the Tourist Association of Ziri.

Apart from that the "regiment" participated at the entombment of the reliquiae of the Emperor Karl in Vienna, at the celebration in Nimerice, at the Nostalgia festival in Ljubljana and at the Krn Memorial Trail. One of the most important news of 2008 is that the unit, now led by Marko Negrieski, officially established itself as an association with the name: Zgodovinsko drustvo IR17.

Poleg tega je "regiment" sodeloval pri pogrebu relikvij cesarja Karla na Dunaju, pri proslavi v Nimericah na Ceskem, pa tudi na domacem festivalu Nostalgija v Ljubljani in na spominskem pohodu na Krn. Ena od najpomembnejsih novic leta 2008 je, da se je enota, ki jo poslej vodi Marko Negrieski, uradno formirala kot drustvo s polnim imenom: Zgodovinsko drustvo IR17.
