We are marking the beginning of 2005 re-enactment season with an interesting contribution from the other end of the World. During the landing at Gallipoli and fierce fighting between ANZAC (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) and Turkish army in 1915 one soldier devoted himself to saving wounded. Disregarding the danger he retreaved on the back of his donkey countless men from the gulleys and hills of this infamous theatre of war before after few weeks he himself was fatally hit. Even thou John Simpson Kirkpatrick was a British he is nowadays, because of the service he did for Australian and New Zealand troops, regarded as an Australian national hero. The Emmett family is preserving his memory by the re-enactment that is a part of every year's Anzac Day parade in Murrumbigee, Australia. |
Zacetek letosnje ponazoritvene sezone naznanjamo z zanimivim prispevkom z drugega konca sveta. |
